Interior Designer Interview

I had the pleasure of interviewing professional interior designer Libby Baker Speight and she was eager

to share lots of valuable information about the interior design field. Libby is the principal/owner, of Baker Design Co. Her company is an interior design studio that caters mostly to high-end residential clientele. Being that is is located in Florida, vacation rental homes are one of the company's most frequent projects to undergo. She also does light commercial such as restaurants and dentists offices.

Libby has been working in the design arena for quite some time now. Her love for design sprouted at a young age as she would rearrange her room and play house. This interest in design stuck with her throughout the years and with almost ten years of experience in the design field, she decided make the jump into owning her own business. After graduating from the University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in Interior Design, she moved to the Santa Rosa Beach area to become part of a dynamic development team. Her work ranged from being the design assistant for all the details in a master planned community to managing a high end residential design store. Today, she works independently as a full service interior design firm. Her success is the result of years worth of long hours, dedication, and continuous hustle.

Libby was extremely eager and excited to share her experience throughout her interior design career with me, as well as lots of valuable advice and recommendations. She stressed that interior design is not for the faint at heart, and that it important to be prepared for a lot of hustle and dedication to the field. With that being said, she also stated that this can be an extremely rewarding career that is filled with lots of great accomplishments and success. Libby was a true joy to interview, and her compassionate and enthusiastic personality is definitely reflected in her work.
